Child concerns are no different than the needs of the
elderly and need to be diligently investigated during the care
at and away from the residence. There are no second chances to
make sure our families are safe from abuse. As parents,
individuals with parents, we have outlined some staggering
statistics by type below for your review and
consideration.
For elderly checks our agents will make visits to the
hospice, nursing home, private homes, retirement communities,
hospitals and neighbors in the area. Our agents investigate
thoroughly and report back to the family regarding living
conditions, elder abuse, fraud or other concerns within the
nursing homes. Investigators spend time talking with the staff
and patient at the nursing home. Typically our agent's video
inside & out of the nursing home is forwarded to our
client.
- In a
recent analysis of nursing homes inspections and complaint
investigations from 1999 to 2000, it was found that more than 9% -
1,601 homes - were cited for causing actual harm or
immediate jeopardy to residence. Over 30% - 5,283 homes were
cited for an abuse violation, which had the potential to
cause harm. (US House Representatives, Committee on
Government Reform, Special Investigations Divisions,
Minority Staff. July 2001. Abuse of Residence is a major
problem in US Nursing Homes).
- Abuse violations cited during annual state inspections
of nursing homes have almost tripled since 1996 - 5.9% in
1996 to 16% in 2000. Ibid).
- More than 33,000 people 60 and older were treated for
nonfatal assaults-related injuries (not including sexual
assault) in emergency departments in 2001. Assaults happened
almost equally at home (25.9%) and in public places (27.5%).
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. August 29, 2003.
Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, 52(34): 812-816).
- Accordingly to the National Crime Victimization Survey,
there were 3.4 victimizations per 1,000 persons among
individuals 65 years of age and older in 2002. (Bureau of
Justice Statistics. 2003. Criminal Victimization. 2002.
Washington, DC: US Department of Justice).
We understand the needs of a family concerned for a
loved one within a nursing home system that doesn't seem to
care. Private Investigators always get noticed
and often get the Red Carpet treatment upon visits.
Each visit helps to remind the staff that your
loved one has influential friends, family members &
visitors. Our goal is to improve the quality & standard of
care provided to aids patients, the elderly, and to
disabled seniors. Most times care providers, doctors and nurses
have proven to perform better when placed under a watchful eye
of a trusted private detective. For visits
involving seniors home alone, we'll also interview neighbors or
other interested persons living in the area if requested to do
so by the family.
"Over the past 25 years, the problem of
child sexual victimization has received significant attention
from researchers, clinicians, and policymakers. Yet
underreporting of sexual offences against children has made it
impossible to gauge either the frequency of such incidents or
the size of offender populations. The assumption that sexual
crimes against children and teenagers are underreported is now
accepted". (Child Sexual Molestation Research Issues,
US Department of Justice, National Institute of Justice, June
1997).
Domestic abuse of spouses, children
and relatives, especially elderly persons, is an unfortunate
aspect of too many domestic situations.
Bauer Risk Management
can investigate to determine if domestic abuse is actually
occurring and if necessary, document who is being abused, who
the abusers are and the nature of the abuse. When appropriate,
Bauer Risk Management can also collect the facts and
provide assistance in obtaining a temporary restraining
order.
Counseling and support services help
people who have custody of children to learn skills in
preventing child abuse. Counseling teaches better ways to
express anger and frustrations. Counseling and support
services for those that abuse and neglect children can be
successful in most cases. Bauer Risk Management
can investigate referrals of child
abuse/neglect, identify the risk factors (problems) that
contributed to the abuse or neglect and recommend appropriate
services to reduce risks and evaluate the success of the
intervention.
- In 1994, over 3 million (3,140,000)
children were reported for child abuse and neglect to child
protective service (CPS) agencies in the United States. This
figure represents a 4.5% increase over the number of
children reported in 1993.
- US Department of Justice reports that 1 in 3 girls and 1
in 7 boys are molested before the age of 18.
- An estimated 61% of violent sex offenders in State
prisons have a prior conviction history. An estimated 1 in 4
imprisoned rape and sexual assault offenders has a prior
history of a violent crime and 1 in 7 has been previously
convicted of violent sex crime. (US Department of Justice
Statistics, February 1997).
- Since 1980, the number of prisoners sentenced for
violent sexual assault (other than rape) has increased by an
annual average of nearly 15% - faster than any other
category of violent categories except drug trafficking. (US
Department of Justice Statistics, February 1997).
- The average pedophile molests between 30-60 children
BEFORE his is arrested the first time, and averages 360-380
children in his / her lifetime.
Teen activity is fast becoming necessary in
domestic situations when it is required to check on the
activities of teens or friends. Drug use, alcohol use / abuse
or pornography is quickly becoming a national epidemic. If you
are concerned about your teen engaging in sexual or
pornography call immediately. Frequent trips to areas
were porn production takes place due to limited laws such as
out of the country, spring break or other similar trips can
cause a lifetime of depression and embracement and sometime
even lead to suicide. CALL TODAY FOR A FREE NO
